No one understands the misery of acne unless you’ve lived through it!
If you are suffering from acne, then I feel your pain. I suffered with severe adult acne from my early twenties until well into my 30’s. Thankfully, I no longer have it because I have now cured adult acne that plagued me for almost two decades. Below is what I did that I felt helped to cure it for good;
1. Drinking water throughout the day between meals.
I took a litre bottle with me everywhere and kept topping it up. I don’t think it’s necessary to drink so much that you are constantly looking for a loo. Steady sips throughout the day are good. Side note; also limit tea and coffee, which are diuretic and will keep you away from optimum hydration.
2. Cleaning up my diet.
For me that was removing most sugars and carbohydrates, but I recommend you look into this yourself or get help from a practitioner. My diet is not as strict these days, but I felt I ‘cleaned’ up my system enough that it hasn’t come back.
3. A really good skincare system that has no toxins and is calming.
I personally use the Arbonne Anti Ageing Skincare System, but if your acne is very bad, then I would suggest the Calm range, which works well at calming the skin. Alternatively have a look around at other trusted brands on the market. Health food shops or online stores might be a good place to start.
4. Self Love.
I know this sounds a bit cringe, but I read You Can Heal Your Life many years ago and according to the author of the book- the late Louise Hay-acne is the manifestation of self loathing or not enough self love. Could this be you?
5. Mineral Make-up.
I found using mineral makeup brilliant. I used Jane Iredale’s compact foundation powder with the Bare Minerals brush dense foundation brush and found it worked wonders.
6. Try not to touch your face too much.
This was hard for me as I am always touching my hair and face. But, it will not do your acne any good to keep adding bacteria to your skin.
7. Glycopeels.
I bought a course of 6 which I had each month and honestly they were marvellous and I believe that these are the reason why I don’t have any scarring. I had them done at my local beauty salon and loved them so much that I kept them up for years. This is not a relaxing facial as the peels create a heavy tingle effect.
8. Homeopathy was my choice for ‘medication’.
I first went to my GP who told me that I would never get rid of the acne unless I went on heavy antibiotics for 6 months. This was not a road I personally wanted to take. If you feel that this is right for you, then it is, but for me I just didn’t want to put that into my body at a time when I was working so hard to heal it naturally. Love it, Don’t love it, don’t believe in it,,, whatever…but for me, homeopathy was a godsend and was very supportive to my journey to healing my acne. That GP was wrong in this case! I did clear up my acne without medication.
Give it a try! Even just implementing some of the above may make a big difference.
All these steps combined helped cure adult acne for me. Maybe give some or all a try and hopefully you will be able to overcome it too. Remember that sometimes small changes to your diet, makeup and skincare routine can make a significant difference and may help you to cure adult acne for you.
I hope this helps. None of this is a quick fix. It took me a good 6 months once all these steps were in place but it was worth because 6 years later, my skin is still clear. My intention is that these recommendations also work for you.
